What is the loud humming or rattling from my refrigerator?
Short answer
A new noise usually starts behind the lower grille rather than inside the food compartment. A condenser fan rattles when debris has reached the blade or when its bearing is wearing, and compressor mounts stiffen with age and hum through the cabinetry. What we check, and in what order
The sequence is the argument for calling early. A condenser fan that is noisy is still moving air and the unit still cools.
